The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department and the Recreation and Parks Commission are calling on community members and businesses to help spread holiday cheer by participating in the 29th Annual Lights, Sights and Holiday Nights home and business decorating contest.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
• Best Use of Lights
• Best Lawn Display
• Best Holiday Theme
• Best Overall
• Best Business Window Display
Community members may nominate a decorated home or business Monday, Nov. 3 until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.
To submit an entry, email up to three photos of the illuminated display, along with the physical address and a contact number (if available), to rpinfo@cityofsantamaria.org.
Pre-judging will take place 5-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, with final judging, 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11.
Winners will be recognized during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Their displays will also be featured on the city’s social media channels and showcased on a digital map for the community to explore.
Winning displays will also be featured in the city’s Holiday Trolley Tours on Saturday, Dec. 13 during the Machado Plaza Holiday Market.
