A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting of another youth in Santa Maria last week, Lt. Felix Diaz of the Santa Maria Police Department said Monday.

At 2:39 p.m. Thursday, police officers responded to the area of 525 S. Broadway regarding reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived and located a juvenile victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where emergency medical treatment was provided.

“Through witness statements, video evidence and follow-up investigation, officers identified the suspect as a juvenile male from Santa Maria,” Diaz said.

On Monday, Santa Maria patrol officers located and arrested the juvenile suspect at a residence in the city.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, Diaz added.

The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into Santa Maria Juvenile Hall.
