To encourage residents to “Go Green in the Fall,” the Santa Maria Utilities Department is offering a complimentary set of water-saving and yard-care items to city utilities customers throughout October while supplies last.

The fall promotion serves as a reminder for homeowners to pull weeds, adjust irrigation timers and clocks for cooler weather, and inspect sprinklers and outdoor faucets for leaks.

The Go Green in the Fall Bundle includes one 7-foot-by-7-foot reusable landscape burlap, good for gathering leaves, yard clippings, branches, and fallen fruit for composting or green bin disposal; and three high-efficiency MPR1000 Rotator sprinklers, including anti-leak sprinkler bodies, an adjustment tool, and installation instructions.

Upgrading to rotator sprinklers is a simple way to retrofit existing irrigation systems and reduce water waste, the city said.

Supplies are limited to one promotional package per household.

For more information or to reserve a Go Green in the Fall Bundle, call the Utilities Department, 805-925-0951 ext. 7270, Monday-Friday, and schedule an appointment for pickup.
