An investigation into an assault has prompted Santa Maria police to request information and dash cameras from Monday afternoon on Harris Grade Road.

On Monday, officers with the Santa Maria Police Department were notified about a male adult who had been contacted along Harris Grade Road, Lt. Andy Magallon said Wednesday.

The adult male reported being assaulted after being driven from his home in Santa Maria, Magallon added.

Members of the Detective Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation involving this incident.

“Detectives are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was traveling along Harris Grade Road between approximately 3:40 p.m. and 3:52 p.m., specifically near the 4600 block of Harris Grade Road and the surrounding roadway,” Magallon said.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have observed unusual activity, vehicles stopped along the roadway, or individuals in the area during that timeframe to contact the Santa Maria police.

“Motorists with dash cameras who traveled this route during the specified timeframe are also encouraged to review and preserve their footage, even if they did not observe anything suspicious,” Magallon added.

“Due to the sensitive nature of this ongoing investigation, additional details are not being released at this time.”

Harris Grade Road is a narrow curvy road connecting the Santa Maria and Lompoc valleys.

Anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, is encouraged to contact Detective Kevin Ochoa at 805.928.3781 x2460.
