Santa Maria Supply was damaged in a fire early Saturday morning, according to the Santa Maria Fire Department.

Emergency crews first responded to 529 S. Blosser Road at around 3:30 a.m. for a report of a fire. 

According to Battalion Chief Kyle Dodds, the fire caused heavy damage to the building and largely affected the store’s storage area.

The fire was contained within the building and did not spread to any nearby structures, per Dodds. 

One firefighter was injured and is currently being treated at Marian Regional Medical Center, Dodds said. 

He could not say if the firefighter sustained major or minor injuries.  

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department, American Medical Response, Santa Maria Police Department and Santa Maria Public Works also responded to the incident. 

The cause of the fire was under investigation by Santa Maria Fire investigators.

“I think any fire in a community is hard, and especially with a thriving business to lose a big chunk of their business, is always difficult,” Dodds said. “But luckily no civilians were injured, and ultimately we got the fire under control. But it’s always hard to see businesses have significant damage to their building.”

Crews were still on scene as of noon.
