A Santa Maria woman has died after being injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the southwestern edge of the city nearly two weeks ago.

Shortly after 1 p.m. June 1, emergency personnel were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash in the 2600 block of Mahoney Road, near Black Road,.

Two of the vehicles were involved in a head-on crash, while a third vehicle overturned off the roadway, according to Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The four people injured in the crash were taken to local hospitals with major to minor injuries, Sgt. Jason Zickuhr from the Santa Maria Police Department’s Traffic Unit said.

The agency’s traffic officers responded to the scene which is located within the city limits.

On Tuesday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau representatives notified traffic officers that a woman injured in the June 1 crash had died while being treated at a local hospital, Zickuhr said Thursday.

The woman has been identified as Leticia Rivera Aguilar, 59, of Santa Maria.

“The SMPD Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate this collision and would like to remind all drivers to use caution on our roadways,” Zickuhr added.
