The city of Santa Maria, in partnership with the nonprofit Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County, invites the public to a free workshop to discuss fair housing and equal access.

The event will be 10-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 4 in Shepard Hall at Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St.

The goal is to ensure that everyone is treated equally when searching for a place to call home, the city said. Topics to be discussed include: tenant and landlord rights; protected classifications; housing violations; fair housing related to emergency shelters; housing discrimination.

Spanish and Mixteco translation will be available.
