The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department has opened registration for the upcoming Youth NFL FLAG Football League.

The non-contact, recreational league, open to youth ages 8-14, features a six-game season designed to promote skill development, teamwork, and fun in a safe structured environment.

NFL FLAG follows a 5-on-5 format in which players remove flags from the ball carrier instead of tackling. Coed divisions are available for ages 8-9, 10-11, and 12-14.

Register online at www.cityofsantamaria.org/register. The program fee is $42 for city residents and $53 for non-residents, and includes an official NFL FLAG team jersey, mouthguard, and flag belt.

Walk-in registrations are also accepted at the Recreation and Parks Department administrative office, 615 S. McClelland St.

Registration deadline is Thursday, Aug. 28. League play begins Saturday, Oct. 11.

Recruitment for volunteer coaches is also underway. Those interested should inquire about the Head Coach Incentive Program.
