The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, in collaboration with PLAY, Inc. invites the community to celebrate Independence Day at 250 Fun in the Sun Fourth of July Celebration, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, July 4 at Elks Baseball Field, 600 S. McClelland St., behind Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center.
The free, family event offers entertainment, activities and patriotic fun. There will be feature live music by Unfinished Business, 1:30-3:30 p.m., a beer garden hosted by Chido Bar, and local food trucks.
Guests may also enjoy free public swim at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center, noon-2 p.m.
Other activities for all ages will include inflatables, carnival games, a dunk tank, children’s arts and crafts, pie- and watermelon-eating contests, photo booth, rock climbing, and a foam pit.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Picnicking is welcome, however, barbecues, tailgating, tent canopies, fireworks and sparklers are not permitted.
