Both Santa Ynez girls golf and girls tennis were in action on Tuesday, with the golf squad at a Mountain League tournament and the tennis team taking on Templeton.

Girls Golf

The Santa Ynez girls golf squad finished in fourth place in the second Mountain League tournament of the season at La Purisima Golf Course.

The Pirates finished near the middle of the pack with a total team score of 275 with eight teams competing.

Santa Ynez was led by junior Mackenzie Phelan, who shot a 45. Following Phelan were Caralyn Barber (50), Addison West (56), Sierra Freedman (61), Katherine Becerra (63) and Kacy Caplan (66).

Arroyo Grande’s Gigi Gunasayan was the medalist of the day, shooting a 37. Arroyo Grande High School also took home first place in the tournament.

Girls Tennis

On the tennis court, the Pirates came out on top over Templeton, 6-3.

The doubles pairings of Paige Halme/Kate Mazza and Danielle Hyland/Violet Quinney impressed, winning both sets of their matchups.

Hyland and Quinney fought especially hard, coming back from a 5-1 deficit in the first set to win 7-5.

In singles play, Mazza, Halme, Morea Naretto and Grace Sugich cruised to victories to earn points for their squad.
