Santa Ynez girls golf captured the CIF Central Section Division 2 title on Monday at Lemoore Golf Course.

As a team, the Pirates shot a season-best score of 488 on the par 72 course to finish above the other seven teams competing.

I am very proud of this team accomplishment today,” Santa Ynez coach Sara Ovadia said. “The girls have improved their team score by almost 100 shots from last season.”

Addison West led the charger for the Pirates, shooting a career-low 87. She was followed up by Mackenzie Phelan as the only other teammate under 100 at 92.

West’s performance was good for fourth overall as an individual while Phelan finished in ninth. West has a chance to compete in the Central Section Championship next Monday, but it will depend on performances from Tuesday’s Division 3 championship.

“It has been an absolute joy to watch the collective improvement this young team has made over the past year and I look forward to returning all of our starters next season,” Ovadia said.
