Pianist Conor Hanick will make his solo recital debut for the Santa Ynez Valley (SYV) Concert Series, 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 at St. Mark’s in-the-Valley, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos.
“It is our distinct pleasure to welcome Conor Hanick to the Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series,” said Robert Cassidy, artistic director. “Conor’s realizations of works by Berg, Galina Ustvolskaya, Ligeti and Beethoven promise to be persuasive and illuminating.”
Concert-goers will enjoy a special feature of the performance, offered on a Steinway Concert Grand Model D, which measures nine feet. Typically, SYV Concert Series performances employ a Steinway B (sometimes referred to as “the perfect piano”), which measures seven feet.
“Thanks to our friends at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara for helping us secure the use of this special instrument for this performance,” Cassidy said.
As part of his residency in the region, Hanick will present a master class at St. Mark’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28. Selected local students will participate. This class is free to attend.
