Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) has been named by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its 100 Critical Access Hospitals to Know, recognizing hospitals across the country that play an essential role in expanding access to care for rural communities.
Critical access hospitals provide vital services in areas where patients may otherwise need to travel long distances for care. Offering round-the-clock emergency services and no more than 25 inpatient beds, these hospitals help keep healthcare close to home and serve.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the essential role Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital plays in our region,” said Katie Gorndt, vice president of SYVCH.
“Our team is proud to care for the people who live, work and visit the Santa Ynez Valley, helping ensure high-quality care is available close by when it is needed,” she said.
SYVCH provides emergency, inpatient and outpatient care for residents and visitors throughout the Santa Ynez Valley. As part of Cottage Health, the hospital connects patients to a broader network of specialists, programs and resources while maintaining local access to essential care.
Critical access hospitals are expanding service lines and embracing technological innovation to meaningfully reduce how far patients must travel to receive both general and specialty care, continually redefining what’s possible within the critical access model.
The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations and curated the list to highlight the great work of critical access hospitals across the nation.
