The Santa Barbara girls golf team faced a tough Righetti squad Thursday, losing 248 to 272 at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Ella Arce posted the low score for the Dons, shooting a 45. Righetti’s Grace Minetti took medalist honors with a 44.
“Senior captain Ella Arce has led the team this season with her positive, hard-working, humble spirit,” Santa Barbara coach Ryan Throop said. “She shot a 45 and parred holes 3,4, and 5. Although we didn’t come out on the winning end, sophomore Ava Karman had her first ever birdie on hole 4.”
The Dons are now 3-3 overall and remain 2-1 in Channel League play. They host Rio Mesa next Tuesday in a Channel League match.

Lompoc 266, Dos Pueblos 284
The Dos Pueblos girls golf team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday, to Lompoc in a non-league match at La Purisima, by a score of 266 to 284.
The Chargers’ Chelsi Ramirez and Lompoc’s Halee Sanger tied for medallist honors with 46.
“It was our first loss in over a year, so it did sting a bit, but our team philosophy has always been that in the end our goal is just to put ourselves in position to play our best and the rest will hopefully take care of itself,” Dos Pueblos coach Dan Choi said.
“Even today, shorty after the match, all the golfers were already focusing on what they could all do to get better, and as a coaching staff we are doing the same. I have no doubt that our athletes have the will and character to bounce back after this one.”
Dos Pueblos is now 5-1 overall and remains 3-0 in Channel League play.
