The Dons came from behind at Santa Ynez with two runs in the seventh inning and eight runs in the eighth to take a 10-2 decision on Wednesday.
Santa Barbara’s Sam Russell hit a two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2. Then in the eighth, Oliver McGibben, Jack Holland, Ty Montgomery, Wyatt Hastings, Dane Dawson and Jordan Harris combined for eight RBIs to put the game out of reach.
Santa Ynez pitcher Jackson Cloud threw six scoreless innings. The Pirates’ Mike Gills drove in the team’s two runs with a two-out double in the sixth. Owen Hunt had two hits for Santa Ynez.
Juan Perez started the game for Santa Barbara, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings.
Santa Barbara improves to 4-0 in Channel League play. Santa Ynez is 1-3 in league play, and 4-6 overall.
