“It was an all-around team effort tonight for us,” Santa Barbara coach Kristin Hempy said. “Every single player contributed. The girls played smart in every aspect of our offense — serving tough and  attacking with precision.

“It’s been a huge week for us with three strong wins and the girls really deserve it — they worked hard and earned this game tonight. San Marcos is a strong squad and so we knew we’d have to show up and battle. The girls really came together as a team this last week and that unity showed tonight.”

San Marcos coach Tina Brown said “We lost a battle to Santa Barbara tonight in a back and forth match, with both teams coming out hot, then cold, then hot. I give huge kudos to Kristen Hempy, who has worked hard to get her team to where they are, and they outplayed us when it counted.”
