Quick action by Santa Barbara County firefighters helped contain a Goleta structure fire to a home’s garage on Friday night.

Crews were dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. to a structure fire in the 5500 block of Somerset Drive, county fire spokesman Mike Eliason said.

Firefighters took less than 10 minutes to knock down the fire in a two-story home in Goleta, Eliason added.

Crews also checked to ensure the blaze had not extended into the rest of the structure and were ventilating smoke from the residence, Eliason said.

Two occupants and their pets had safely evacuated from the structure before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the structure fire remained under investigation, Eliason added.
