After dropping the first two games, the Santa Barbara boys water polo team finished with three straight wins, including two one-goal wins on Saturday against Mira Costa and Edison.

Santa Barbara 10, Mira Costa 9

SB trailed 6-4 in the third period, but a 4-0 run at the end of that quarter and the beginning of the fourth gave the Dons the lead.

Mira Costa then tied the game at eight. After back-to-back goals by each team, Landin Romo scored the game winner for the Dons. Mira Costa had two chances to tie at the end of regulation but came up short.

Santa Barbara had 6 different scorers. Shane Davis, Mateo Obando, Landin Romo and Jerrad Burford had two goals each, while Ethan Camp and Ryder Green had a goal each.

Santa Barbara 5, Edison 4

After being tied 3-3 at the half, Santa Barbara led 5-3 after three periods. Then Edison scored with two minutes to bring it within one.

The Dons’ Ryder Green got a piece of the last shot, and John Shafer grabbed the loose ball to hold on for the win.

“Freshman Nikita Kolosov was outstanding in cage all tournament, making several saves in key situations,” Dons coach Mark Walsh said.

Santa Barbara is 14-4 and travels to Buena on Wednesday.
