Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) in May received $20,000, from the Santa Barbara Foundation. The gift will support the Resident Assistance Fund, which provides direct financial support to residents living at PSHH properties with medical, food and utility emergencies.
“Although our region is opening up again after modifications to the statewide shelter-at-home orders, we are still seeing our families experiencing deep financial need,” said John Fowler, PSHH presiden/CEO. “We are so grateful for the Santa Barbara Foundation’s generous support for our organization and for the Resident Assistance Fund.”
The gift was made through the Santa Barbara Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Effort, which is providing more than $1 million in assistance to individuals, families, and organizations actively helping members of the community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the effects of the coronavirus change daily life for communities across the Central Coast, PSHH’s Resident Assistance Fund allows PSHH, in the most flexible and effective way, to support any of its 5,000 residents who find themselves in urgent financial need.
