Santa Barbara High suffered a 4-1 baseball loss to Royal on Monday at Eddie Mathews Field.

The Dons fall to 2-3 on the season.

Luke Wechsler started and went five innings, allowing two runs and six hits. Erick Elizalde finished the game, allowing two runs and two hits, while striking out four.

“Erick really came into his own today,” said Santa Barbara coach Steve Schuck. “The outing should give him a lot of confidence going forward.

Oliver McGibben collected  two hits and Dane Dawson had a hit, drew a walk and drove in the lone run.

The Dons played an error-free game.

Santa Barbara is back in action Tuesday at Santa Ynez and opens Channel League play Friday at home against Cabrillo.
