After winning only three games last year, Santa Barbara High’s boys lacrosse team turned things around and made the CIF-Southern Section playoffs this season as at-large entry in Division 2.

The Dons, which went 7-6 overall, received one of the six at-large spots in the division and will open the playoffs on Wednesday at Viewpoint (9-4), the No. 3 team from the Gold Coast League.

Cate and San Marcos are also in the Division 2 bracket. San Marcos (7-6, Channel No. 3) will host JSerra (12-8, Trinity League at-large) on Wednesday.

Cate (10-3), the Channel League champion, received a first-round bye and will play at top-seeded Saugus (10-2) in a second-round game on Friday, May. 6

GIRLS LACROSSE

Channel League-champion Dos Pueblos will host a wild-card winner in the first round of the 16-team Division 2 playoffs on Thursday, May 5.

The Chargers (17-1) will face either Royal or Trabucco Hills.

San Marcos (13-6) was the Channel League’s No. 2 playoff designate and drew a first-round home game Thursday against Glendale  (8-10, Pacific No. 3) in the 32-team Division 3 bracket.

Also in Division 3, Cate (8-7, Channel No. 3) opens the playoffs at Santa Monica (16-4, Ocean No. 2).

The next round is Saturday, May 7.
