Santa Barbara’s season ended Friday with a 14-4 defeat to 4th-seeded Aliso Niguel in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.

The Dons’ season ends with an overall record of 17-7-2.

“I was very happy with the way the Dons competed today,” coach Danny Echt said. “The team has improved immensely and have been playing great at the end of the season. Today we went out and played at a very high level. The opponent today was far more experienced than us.”

Santa Barbara’s No. 1 doubles team of sisters Nicole and Caitlyn Buist went 2-0 in sets on the day.

“Caitlyn’s doubles play all year long has been stellar,” Echt said. “She put a lot of pressure on all the Aliso teams with her net play, and her steadiness in the back court made a huge difference in the success at the No. 1 position.

“In singles, sophomore Mary Moses showed great balance and consistency in her play today, capturing the only singles point for the Dons.
