The Santa Barbara Magic youth basketball program has dominated tournaments for the last two weekends, in the 15U and 13U divisions.
On July 2-3, the 15U Magic club competed in the West Coast Elite So Cal Summer Tip-Off and took home the championship. The Magic defeated West Coast Elite LA in the semifinals and took down Pacific Hoops 44-37 in the finals.
Meanwhile, the 13U Magic team was able to take first place in the Sports Academy’s Summer Slam tournament on July 10-11. The Magic were playing up against older opponents in the 14U division and found success, going undefeated and beating TeamEDGE 61-51 in the championship matchup.
That same 13U squad also went undefeated in the local Frosh/Soph Summer Basketball League held at Santa Barbara High School, which place earlier in the summer.
The 15U roster includes Luke Crawford, Ryan Sharkey, Luke Zuffelato, Joe Pasternack, Julian Espinosa, Tobin Shyrock, Waylon Finkel, Carter Battle and Micah Goss. The team is coached by Tyler Shyrock.
The 13U roster includes Brody Green, Aidan Conlan, Lincoln Gengo, Damien Krautmann, Gabriel Villa, Jude Pritchard, Henry Simon, Monty Lopez, Gunner Mornini, Evryn Kneafsey and Abby Garcia. The team is coached by Donovan Green and Dino Mornini.
