A woman was arrested by Santa Barbara police Wednesday evening, ending an hours-long standoff at a home near Westmont College.
Officers responded at about 1:20 p.m. to the residence on the 700 block of Westmont Road, according to police spokesman Anthony Wagner.
The woman earlier was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute, Wagner said, but was believed to be alone in the home at the time police responded.
At about 5:10 p.m., the woman, whose name was not immediately available, surrendered without incident, Wagner said.
She was taken into custody on a warrant alleging domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon, he added, and was to be booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
A family member told Noozhawk that the woman recently had developed mental-health issues due to a congenital brain condition and a series of recent surgeries, and that she had no criminal intent.
The Police Department sent its Crisis Negotiation Response Team and its SWAT team to the scene, Wagner said.
Westmont Road was shut down in the area of the incident, and members of the public were asked to avoid the area.
There were injuries reported in the earlier domestic dispute, Wagner said, but no one was taken to the hospital.
He did not provide further details, including the type of weapon allegedly used.
