The Santa Barbara Police Department on Wednesday released the names of two elderly people found dead at a Santa Barbara residence earlier this month.

Bernd Storch, 82, and his wife, Miyako Storch, 87, were found deceased in their home on Arbolado Road on the evening of July 9, according to Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale.

Both suffered self-inflicted gunshot wounds, and upon further investigation the deaths were deemed a double suicide, Ragsdale said, adding that no foul play was suspected.

Dispatchers originally received a call at approximately 6 p.m. on the evening of July 9, and detectives launched a “suspicious-death investigation” upon finding the couple deceased in the residence.
