The Santa Barbara girls lost to Buckley in the semifinals in the Oaks Christian tournament Saturday, after finishing second in pool play and beating Bishop Montgomery in a quarterfinal match.

In pool play, the Dons beat Louisville 25-18, 25-8, and Buena 25-13, 20-25, 15-9, before losing to Buckley, 25-11, 23-25, 14-16.

Santa Barbara then beat Bishop Montgomery in the quarterfinals 25-20, 25-21 and lost to Buckley in a semifinal rematch, 12-25 23-25.

“Shae Delany came through with some very solid and consistent serve receive,” Santa Barbara assistant coach Kim Zuffelato said. “Nicole Shuetz was a huge help at the net with some great offense and blocking. Tessa Dealbergaria and Gracie Menzier had many great saves on defense.”

The Dons play two at home next week, Tuesday against San Marcos and Thursday against Pacifica.

Santa Ynez 3, Bishop Diego 0

Jayda Henrey led a very balanced Santa Ynez attack with nine kills in a sweep of Bishop Diego Saturday, by scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-18.

Gianna Pecile added seven kills and four aces and Cailin Glover and Kaki Allen both had six kills and three blocks.

Alyiah Cabrera and Sadie Lishman had 11 assists each.
