Santa Barbara Strings, a nonprofit youth string orchestra group, is welcoming violin, viola, cello, and double bass players from the Santa Barbara County area. Young pianists are also being accepted to join the chamber ensemble.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced students, ages 4-19, are invited to audition for one of three orchestras and/or chamber ensembles. Audition dates are Sundays, Aug. 28 or Sept. 4 at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road. Register for tryouts at https://www.santabarbarastrings.org/audition-info.

For those without performing experience, Santa Barbara Strings can help navigate the process and introduce children to the world of classical string music.

The general orchestra levels are the Toccata Orchestra, Sinfonietta Orchestra, and Vivace Orchestra.

Orchestral rehearsals are in person on Sunday afternoons, September 2022-May 2023. Chamber ensemble rehearsal days may vary.

Scholarships for eligible students are available for program participation and instruments.
