Santa Barbara High volleyball broke into the win column on Tuesday night with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 sweep at Santa Ynez in a Channel League match.
“We were able to finally get in a rhythm,” coach Ariana Garner said. “We were in control throughout the entire match, something we have struggled with this season so far.
Sophomore outside hitter Emma Zuffaleto played a solid match, recording 15 kills and committing only six errors. She also served an ace and had four digs in the middle back.
Junior India Cunningham added six kills on a .357 hitting percentage and had a block. Sophomore Charlotte Caesar provided great defense in the libero spot with 10 digs and passed a season-best 2.55 in serve receive.
“I feel like the girls turned a new leaf tonight,” said Garner. “They played with confidence and composure. When things didn’t go our way, we didn’t get down on ourselves and we were able to rally back and play with grit.
“We still have a lot to work on moving forward but it sure was great to be on the other side of the scoreboard tonight. The girls played together as a team and earned this win.”
The Dons are 1-1 in league and 1-7 overall.
