Alex Rottman dominated play for Santa Barbara with 20 kills, eight aces and two blocks in a 25-14, 25-22, 25-19 sweep of West Ranch in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 1 tournament Wednesday.
Peter Tebbe had 32 assists, an ace and four digs for the undefeated Dons, who advance to Saturday’s semifinals at home. The matchup with either Newbury Park or Beckman begins at 6 p.m.
“It was a big win, definitely not our best overall performance,” Santa Barbara coach Chad Arneson said. “We will take the win and work harder in practice. We need to play better if want to move on to the next round.”
Arneson cited Dylan Foreman, who played some middle and he had a huge kill that sparked us to win game 3.”
Andrew Douglas had 4 kills and a block for Santa Barbara, and after the match traveled to Agoura to play in the Dons first-round CIF basketball game.
