Fourth-seeded Harvard Westlake ended Santa Barbara’s season with a 13-5 first-round win in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs on Wednesday at Santa Barbara.
The Dons end the campaign at 10-1-1.
Santa Barbara’s No. 1 doubles team of Koko Kelly and Heidi Hatton swept their three sets, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.
“It was great to see Heidi swinging freely,” Dons coach Danny Echt said. “Both Koko and Heidi had to come up big by holding serve to close out two of the sets. I was very pleased with the chemistry between the two as this was their first time playing together.”
However, Harvard Westlake prevailed in singles by an 8-1 count.
“The Dons singles players faced very tough opposition,” Echt said. “Overall, it was a great experience playing against this kind of quality opponent.”
