Emma Sell swept her three sets and the Santa Ynez No. 3 doubles team rallied from a 4-1 deficit to pull out a win, helping the Pirates beat Providence, 10-8, in a non-league girls tennis match on Wednesday.

In a key moment in the match, Defina Serra and Violet Quinney stormed back to beat Jacky and Janelle Pryko, 6-4. Serra/Quinney went 2-1 on the day as did the Pryko sisters.

Providence also got two wins from its No. 1 doubles team, Jane Krautmann/Mia Vandever and Avala Elwood at No. 1 singles.

“We had our chances and almost pulled it off, losing some close sets that could have tied up the match,” said Providence coach Chris Elwood. “It all came down to the last round where they just edged us out.”

The Providence Patriots are now 6-3 on the season. They play Cate School on Thursday.
