The Santa Ynez High girls golf team played in their first CCAA Mountain League tournament and finishd sixth out of seven teams at Santa Maria Country Club.
The seven Mountain League schools played the par-37 front nine.
Arroyo Grande finished in first place with a score of 222. The medalists of the match were Bella Gunasayan and Gigi Gunasayan of Arroyo Grande and Sophia Pierson of San Luis Obispo each shooting 41.
Santa Ynez had three new golfers in its lineup, freshmen Katherine Becerra and Kacy Caplan and senior Gabriela Robles, along with three returning sophomores Mackenzie Phelan, Addison West and Sierra Freedman.
“We look forward to watching this group improve over the course of this season and the next few years,” said coach Sarah Ovadia.
