Santa Ynez’s Jackson Cloud pitched a complete game one-hitter with eight strikeouts to beat Orcutt Academy 6-0 Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Pirates won the second game 21-3 to complete the sweep.
Aiden O’Neill went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the first game, and coach Warren Dickey called out Bradley Lood’s defense.
In the second game, Tate Minus won his first varsity start on the mound, and got his first varsity hit.
Tanner Padfield drove in five runs and Micky Gills three.Bennett Lood and Ben Flores also collected their first varsity hits.
Dickey said he was “very pleased with pitching in both, and defense in game one. We had some guys step up when given opportunities. Proud of Tate, and Adam Stephens, who rallied after some in-game adversity.”
Santa Ynez is now 4-1 and plays at Bishop Diego Tuesday.
