Firefighters with the Santa Barbara City Fire Department knocked down a fire in a single-story home on the Mesa Saturday morning.
Emergency personnel responded at around 7:49 a.m. to a report of a structure fire on the 200 block of Cooper Road.
Fire Battalion Chief Cory Cloud said a passerby noticed smoke coming out of the home and called 9-1-1. The resident was not home at the time.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the flames and contained them to one room of the house, which also sustained water damage, he said.
The rest of the house sustained major smoke damage, he added.
No injuries were reported, and the cause was under investigation.
