Community members play a key role in responding to homeless encampments, individuals in need, and behavioral health concerns, but they often don’t know how to respond, according to Santa Barbara Alliance for Community Transformation (SB ACT).
Recognizing this, SB ACT has partnered with the cities of Goleta and Santa Barbara to develop Homelessness Response Directories that serve as simple references for local resources for different homelessness-related topics.
For example, the directories note how to report an encampment so homeless services teams are deployed; who to call if you spot an individual experiencing a mental health crisis; and where to direct an individual in need of shelter/food/basic resources.
To download a copy of the directory, visit www.sbact.org/homelessnessresponse. Email info@sbact.org to get brochures or wallet-size reference cards for business/faith community/organizations.
