The Santa Barbara Coasters 10U baseball team went undefeated on its way to a USSSA Santa Barbara Memorial Day Tournament at Girsh Park this weekend.
In the championship game, the Coasters took down the SVBL Trash Pandas by a score of 13-5.
After the Trash Pandas took a lead in the top of the first, Santa Barbara tied the game up in the bottom half on a single by Henry Miller and a double from Jake Wallman.
The Coasters pulled away in the bottom of the third with five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Wallman, to take a 7-2 lead.
Santa Barbara continued to roll with four more runs in the fifth inning, ending with a walk-off two-run homer by Andrew O’Brien to clinch the mercy-rule victory.
Brayden Montgomery went the distance for the Coasters, striking out three and walking zero batters in five innings.
Wallman led the offense by going 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Miller went 3-for-3 on the day.
The team consists of Cameron Pierce, Brayden Montgomery, Cristian Perez, Andrew O’Brien, Ashton Miller, Boden Thompson, Makani Gillis, Jake Wallman, Henry Miller and Wally Taylor.
The team is managed by Christoph Pierre with assistant coaches Michael Wallman and Simon O’Brien.
