The Santa Barbara Soccer Club Girls 2014 Pre-GA Aspire team captured the SoCal State Cup Championship last weekend in Norco.

“The athletes deserve all the credit for coming together, trusting each other, and playing like a team,” head coach Marco Medina said. “Their relentless work ethic and competitive edge were evident throughout these last two months. They deserve to be State Cup Champions; they should be very proud of their accomplishment.”

The quest for a State Cup began in January when SBSC won the Winter Classic MLK Tournament while outscoring opponents 23-4.

Then, in week one of the SoCal State Cup, SBSC secured the top spot in pool play and pulled out a penalty-kick win in the quarterfinals thanks to crucial saves from Suzette Paredes Suarez.

In the semifinals, SBSC extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 3-2 victory to punch its ticket to the SoCal State Cup championship.

SBSC clashed with Chelsea OC in the title matchup and pulled out a 2-1 win to be crowned champions.

The team consists of Annie Bailey, Victoria Fonseca, Charlotte Restivo, Ava Bailey, Haley Cornelius, Emily Ruiz, Isadora Boucher, Audrey Zerey, Reese Elbek, Suzette Paredes Suarez, Cataleya Thomas, Sidney Boddy and Audrey Kosek.

The team is coached by Marco Medina and managed by Mike Boddy.
