The Santa Barbara Soccer Club Girls Elite 2016 team battled to a Cal South Mayors Division State Cup Championship last weekend.

The title run began on Saturday, Jan. 25 when SBSC Elite took down SM420 Athletico Heights FC by a score of 3-1. SBSC Elite followed that up with a doubleheader sweep of Ventura Surf (1-0) and PSO FD (4-2).

In the State Cup quarterfinals, SBSC Elite faced off against SBSC White and came out on top 1-0 in the intra-club matchup.

That set up a semifinal showdown with Juventus Academy LA, where SBSC Elite dominated the offensive end of the field for a 5-2 win.

SBSC Elite carried that momentum into the championship match on Sunday, Feb. 2 and came away with a 3-1 victory over Eagles Soccer Club.

The team includes Emilia Alcaraz, Sloan Ellis, Hana Holmes, Marlo Jenkins, Kaia Jerkovich, Finley Perry, Vida Riddlebaugh, Elena Romero and Morgan Smith.

The team is coached by Waid Ibrahim and Aydson Willett.
