Santa Barbara City College Football stumbled out of the gates on Saturday, dropping its season opener to El Camino by a score of 68-6 in Torrance.
The Vaqueros (0-1) struggled to move the ball offensively and had no answer for the high-flying Warrior offense, which held a commanding 47-0 lead at halftime.
It was all El Camino from the opening whistle, as it dominated the defensive side of the ball (8 sacks, 3 turnovers) and had no trouble marching down the field (677 total yards), scoring 13 points in the opening quarter before erupting for a 34-point second quarter.
The Warriors cruised to the win from there, adding seven points in the third and 14 in the fourth.
SBCC’s lone score came on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jackson McPeak to Luke McNeil in the final quarter of play.
McPeak took the bulk of the snaps under center, completing 16-of-24 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, San Marcos alum and SBCC freshman wideout Quinn Donnell made an impact in his first career college game, leading all players with seven catches for 75 yards.
The Vaqueros will look to bounce back in their home opener against Pasadena City next Saturday at 6 p.m.
