Santa Barbara City College football labored from start to finish on Saturday and suffered a 56-7 loss to rival Allan Hancock at La Playa Stadium in the Vaqueros’ final home game of the year.

SBCC (2-6, 1-4 conf.) has now lost four of its last five games, allowing 48 or more points in back-to-back contests.

The Bulldogs made sure the Vaqueros were out of the game early, as the visitors stormed into Santa Barbara and jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead.

The second quarter was more of the same, as Allan Hancock continued to impose its will on both sides of the ball to take a 35-0 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, the Bulldogs’ offensive onslaught continued with a trio of touchdowns to hang 56 total points on the SBCC defense.

The lone score by the Vaqueros came on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Will Doherty to Will Roberts in the third quarter.

When the final whistle sounded, Allan Hancock had gained 562 total yards of offense while SBCC managed just 221.

The Bulldog offense was led by quarterback AJ Vele, who completed 11-of-11 pass attempts for 195 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Caden Harris rushed for 128 yards and Anthony Tucker found the endzone twice.

SBCC will look to shake this loss off heading into its penultimate game of the season on the road against Moorpark next Saturday at 6 p.m.
