SBCC football dropped its third straight game to begin the season with a 66-17 loss to Cerritos College on Saturday in Cerritos.

The Vaqueros have struggled to keep up with opposing offenses this year, allowing over 60 points in all three games while being outscored 196-26.

It was all Cerritos in the early stages, as the Falcons raced out to a 21-0 lead nine seconds into the second quarter.

The SBCC offense got on the board later in the second on a 29-yard field goal by Jacob Riser, but Cerritos responded with two touchdowns before the break to take a 35-3 lead at halftime.

The Falcon dominance continued into the third quarter as they poured on two more touchdowns while holding the Vaqueros scoreless to make it 49-3.

While the Cerritos offense continued to roll in the fourth quarter with 17 more points, SBCC found a bit of a groove with a pair of touchdowns of its own.

The fourth-quarter Vaquero scores came on a 54-yard touchdown pitch and catch from Jackson McPeak to Jyce Jones and an 11-yard rushing touchdown by McPeak in the final minutes to bring the game to its final score of 66-17.

Jones was the top receiver for both teams on the day, hauling in seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, McPeak threw for 114 yards and rushed for 50 more.

SBCC will return home in search of its first win against Long Beach next Saturday at 6 p.m. at La Playa Stadium.
