Potential Extended Learning class students will have to enroll for classes at Santa Barbara City College in person as college officials work to fix its online registration system.
SBCC’s online registration system went down Friday morning for students in the college’s School of Extended Learning.
Extended Learning noncredit classes for the spring 2026 semester start in January and the signup period started at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Jordan Killebrew, executive director of Public Affairs and Communications for SBCC, said the college has already identified the issue. Killebrew has also been serving as the acting director of information technology.
“On the IT end, we have identified the issue and we’re working to resolve it so that returning students can register from the comfort of their home,” Killebrew said.
Killebrew said the issue is related to an upgrade from a previous system version. The website advises registrants that the signup page will look different this time due to an updated user interface.
In the meantime, students can register for classes on campus at the school’s Wake Campus at 300 N. Turnpike Road. Killebrew said additional staff have been assigned to help with the extra work.
“We do apologize to the community for this inconvenience,” Killebrew said. “We also want to thank the community for its patience and we’re going to remedy this as soon as possible, so it does not happen again.”
