ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College Women’s Golf team came in second at WSC #4 on Monday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course. Aidie Smith also finished second individually, shooting a 77, just one stroke off first.

The team’s result broke a pattern of three straight third-place finishes in conference rounds, always behind Canyons and Allan Hancock. This time, the Vaqueros (+59) were three better than Hancock (+62), but everyone finished well behind Canyons (+31) for the top spot.

Smith, an All-State honoree last year, played perhaps her best round of this year. This comes after her stellar round last week, placing third among all individuals. She paced the Vaqueros again on Monday and was only behind Canyons’ Khloe Guerrero—who birdied her final hole to earn first.

The Vaqueros had a total of three players in the top 10. Camryn Chapman‘s 86 was good for eighth overall, and Jamaica Cook‘s 87 was naturally good for ninth. Only SBCC, Canyons, and Hancock players made the top ten individually.

Kacey Renga (97) rounded out the team scoring, ensuring the team’s second-place finish. Azul Calzadillas (98) and Julia Borejszo (102) were not far behind either.

The Vaqueros get to play another round earlier than usual. On Wednesday, they play WSC #5 hosted by Canyons at Knollwood Country Club.
