Kiala Haas and Kaylee Lawson of SBCC track & field were crowned conference champions in their respective events a the Western State Conference Finals at College of the Canyons.
Haas ran a 2:18.65, winning the 800 meters. The San Marcos High alum was only .57 off the top spot for the 1500 meters, clocking in at a second-place 4:44.92.
Lawson won the triple jump at 11.08 meters. She also placed second in the long jump with a 4.92-meter mark.
Audrey Kobayashi, Syriah Jones, and Serenity Jones all were part of the third-place teams in both the 4×100 relay (48.88) and 4×400 relay (4:08.35). Lawson was on the 4×100 team, and Haas was on the 4×400 team.
Marley Nacco was third in the 3000 steeplechase at 12:29.12. Kobayashi was third in the discus with a 35.08-meter throw. Syriah Jones was fourth in the 400 meters, clocking in at 1:01.13.
Serenity Jones had a few top-five finishes. In the 100 meters, her 12.66 was good for fourth. In the 200, she placed fifth (26.42) and also was fifth in the 100 hurdles (15.93).
Ethan Ball had the best finish on the men’s side. His 15.65 time in the 110 hurdles was good for second place.
Colin Lorentz’s 3.25-meter mark in the Pole Vault was good for fourth place.
The Vaqueros will compete at the SoCal Prelims in Bakersfield on Saturday.
