The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara (SFSB) is now accepting applications for financial aid during the 2027-28 academic year.
Eligibility requirements and application instructions are available online at www.sbscholarship.org.
The Scholarship Foundation received 3,481 applications during its recently concluded scholarship awards cycle.
In May, the organization awarded more than $8.4 million in scholarships to 2,288 Santa Barbara County students.
Scholarship awards for undergraduates at four-year schools averaged $3,708; graduate student awards (excluding those for medical school) averaged $3,580.
The Scholarship Foundation also supports students pursuing vocational training.
Eligible students may receive up to five years of undergraduate funding and four years of medical/graduate-level funding. The primary criteria for award selection are financial need, academic achievement, and motivation.
Deadline to apply for Scholarship Foundation art and honors scholarships is Nov. 15. Applications for general and employer-sponsored scholarships must be submitted by Jan. 31.
“The Scholarship Foundation stands ready to help local students and families pursuing postsecondary education,” said Calen Ouellette, foundation president/CEO.
“Thanks to the generosity of our many community supporters, we are able to provide scholarships for college or vocational study, as well as free financial aid advisory services,” Ouellette said.
“We encourage students countywide to complete their applications for 2027-2028 scholarships as soon as possible,” Ouellette said.
The nonprofit Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara is the nation’s largest community-based provider of college scholarships, having cumulatively awarded in excess of $175 million to more than 66,000 county students since its founding in 1962.
