About 350 people attended the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara’s 2019 Community Leaders Luncheon Dec. 6 at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. The annual event recognizes Scholarship Foundation donors and volunteers.

Featured speakers included Edward Birch, Mosher Foundation president/CEO, and Jessica Zamora, a Scholarship Foundation recipient and student at California State University Channel Islands. Foundation Board Chair Christie Glanville, and Victoria Juarez, foundation president/CEO, also addressed attendees.

Capturing the spirit of the occasion, Zamora, an aspiring teacher, said: “I want to thank the Scholarship Foundation again. To all the donors here this afternoon, thank you for seeing the potential in all of us. By giving these awards, you change the trajectory of the whole community. Thank you for investing in our community.”

In May, the foundation awarded $7.98 million to 2,447 students throughout Santa Barbara County.

The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara is the nation’s largest community-based provider of college scholarships, having cumulatively awarded in excess of $123 million to more than 50,000 county students since its founding in 1962. A nonprofit, the Scholarship Foundation also provides free financial aid advising services. For more information, visit www.sbscholarship.org.
