The search for an at-risk Isla Vista woman who went missing 11 days ago came to a sad ending on Tuesday.

The body of Sonia Lang Crestfield, 85, was discovered by detectives shortly after 11 a.m. in the Goleta Slough area, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Crestfield was last seen at about 11:30 a.m. on July 11 near Friendship Manor, 6647 El Colegio Road, where she lived.

“Ms. Crestfield has not been in contact with anyone in several days, suffers with dementia, and may be confused or disoriented,” the Sheriff’s Office said last week in a posting on Facebook.

“This death does not appear suspicious in nature,” Zick said Tuesday.

She added that the cause and manner of Crestfield’s death were pending investigation by the sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
