An early-morning semi-truck fire forced the closure of southbound Highway 101 below Los Alamos early Tuesday morning.

One lane reopened around 6:30 a.m. and the other lane, the right lane, is expected to reopen around noon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency crews first responded around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a semi-truck fully engulfed in flames near Alisos Canyon Road.

The truck driver, who “safely” disconnected the tractor from the burning trailer carrying 35,000 pounds of produce, was not injured, per the Highway Patrol.
