The sentencing hearing for two men convicted for their involvement in the Stearns Wharf shooting that killed a Camarillo man late last year has been postponed until June 2024.

The sentencing originally was scheduled for Thursday, just two days before the one-year anniversary of the killing of Robert Dion “Rob” Gutierrez, 52.

But during a hearing Thursday, Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Pauline Maxwell delayed the sentencing for Ricardo Tomas Jauregui-Moreno, 21, and James Lee Rosborough, 22, who were convicted for their roles in Gutierrez’s death.

It’s unclear why the sentencing has been pushed back — to June 20, 2024 — and prosecutors declined to comment.

Gutierrez was celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife and another couple on Dec. 9, 2022, when he was shot and killed on the wharf during a fight between two groups.

Investigators described Gutierrez as an innocent bystander.

Police have said one of the groups involved Santa Barbara residents with ties to the Westside criminal street gang, and the other group involved Ventura County residents with ties to Ventura County criminal street gangs.

Jauregui-Moreno was initially accused of murder and committing the crime in order to benefit the Westside gang.

On June 29, he pleaded guilty to assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, according to court records, and remains in custody without bail at the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Rosborough initially was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, accessory, and criminal street gang conspiracy, according to court records.

He pleaded guilty on June 1 to being an accessory, and has released from custody pending sentencing, according to court records.

A third suspect, Jiram Tenorio Ramon, 23, is still facing trial on multiple charges in the case, including murder and special allegations of street terrorism, committing a crime for criminal street gang purposes, personal and intentional discharge of a handgun causing great bodily injury or death, and committing the alleged offense while on felony probation.

He is due back in court Jan. 11 for a readiness-and-settlement conference before Maxwell.

A fourth defendant, Christopher Dave Miranda, pleaded guilty to an assault charge, and is due in court Jan. 18 for sentencing.
