Santa Barbara County will begin road rehabilitation projects at various locations in May and, weather permitting, they will end in June.

The 2018-19 Pavement Rehabilitation project will resurface 19 lane miles in the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Los Alamos, Lompoc and Orcutt.

Road sections scheduled to receive pavement rehabilitation include North Patterson between University Drive and the Goleta city limits; Calzada Avenue between Baseline Avenue and Manzana Street; Edison Street between Lindero Street and Highway 154,;Purisima Road near Rucker Road; and Dominion Road near Palmer Road.

Estimated construction cost of $3.1 million is funded by County General Fund and Senate Bill 1 funds. These funds are used to help maintain, preserve and improve roads throughout Santa Barbara County.

The County Board of Supervisors awarded construction contracts to Granite Construction in the 2nd District, Souza Engineering Contracting in the 3rd and 4th districts, and Ferravanti Grading and Paving in the 5th District.

Construction for all areas is expected to occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In Santa Barbara, on Patterson Avenue and Calle Real, night work is planned from 8 p.m.-4 a.m.

Drivers should be aware of reduced speed zones and increased traffic control when driving through the construction sites. Traffic signs will announce any significant delays or temporary road closures.

Please observe construction area signs and prepare to stop when traveling through the work site for the safety of crewmembers and the motoring public.
